Life’s Mystery.

As human beings we are not perfect; we neither live in a perfect world nor do we have perfect situations. We may live life expecting the best and hoping that things will always go the way we want them to but allow me to say at this point that therein lies the web of idealism.

For those of us who are Christians, we know that God does not say life will be perfect; He says we are to trust Him because He has overcome the world. Hitting home, I would dare to say – “expect trouble” or perhaps in the exact wording in the Bible “tribulation”, which may be contrary to what you may have been told or believed.

In view of the above, may I share with you some life truths which I believe you can hold on to when things go awry,(you can be sure they will at some point) –

1. [Pain is part of growing].
‘No pain, no gain’ they say, and believe me there is a lot of truth to this philosophy of life. Have you not noticed also that achievements are mainly attained through much effort and sacrifice?

Many times in life doors will shut, and the pain we feel at such times can be excruciating; but when we go through pain and find healing we become better for it. Our understanding of the reality to this truth helps considerably in the healing process in such difficult times.

2. [Everything in life is temporary].
Nothing lasts forever; if you are poor in spirit and in your pocket, praise God because it won’t be long and things will turn around for you if you trust in the Lord. If you are rich and wealthy, make the most of this season by making the world a better place, because seasons do change. Moreover, one day you will find your way back to the one who called you forth.

3. [Worrying and complaining change nothing].
Worrying and complaining only bring grey hair and show a lack of confidence in God. In fact if care is not taken, worrying and complaining can make favour evade one. Once people recognise you as a complainer they will avoid you like they would a plague. Remember, God will use people when He wants to show you His favour.

4. [Your scars are symbols of your strength].
We all have scars, whether they are from self inflicted wounds or wounds inflicted by others. Just like physical scars, all scars (emotional, psychological,or mental) stand to show that we have been through some experiences and aid us in guiding others through their own pain.

We must never be ashamed to show others our scars, share how we got the wounds which resulted in the scars and the healing process. Life’s best lessons are often learnt at the worst times and from the worst mistakes.

5. [ Every little struggle is a step forward].
Let me assure you that every struggle you go through is for a purpose. With each and every struggle, we move closer to our destined points. We must endeavour to learn something new whenever we go through our individual experiences, otherwise we may lose an essential aspect of the growth process.

6. [ Be true to self]
Whatever you do, be true to yourself, especially relevant don’t let anyone change you. People’s perception of you and what they think you should do or where they think you ought to be is not your reality. Smile at those who are unnecessarily critical of you, appreciate and honour those who recognise the grace of God upon your life.

7. [The best thing you can do is to keep going].
Don’t be afraid to get back up – to try again, to love again, to live again, and also to dream again. Don’t let a hard lesson harden your heart.

There will be times when it seems like everything that could go wrong is going wrong. When you feel like quitting, remember that sometimes things have to go very wrong before they turn out right. Sometimes you have to go through the worst, to arrive at the best.

In concluding, let me say this – there have been times in my own life when I have felt like I couldn’t go on but with God’s help and the people He has placed around me, I have gotten back up.

Seek counselling in difficult times if you must; it does not mean you are a weakling. Contrarily, it shows strength in the sight of the lions and bears of life.

Well, so much for living. It is well with us all.

Have a great week till I speak to you next time.
